This is a day I will never forget!
I just got off working a long-haul flight from Vienna. All I could think about was having a nice cup of tea or a glass of Merlot; whatever I had in the house. The only thing waiting for me at home was at least 5 messages from Vicky, telling me how wonderful her life is. Like that’s all I need to hear!
Sometimes I wish….I don't know.... I find myself living vicariously through her. Life wouldn’t be fun without her! And I always get fabulous clothes from her! (her cast-off, the ones she is bored with) Anyway…. just as I’m leaving the terminal I see this Jack Russell out of the corner of my eye. Why can’t people keep their dogs on a leash, especially in an airport! My first thought was “Oh god, he’s going to try and run right through me.” Did I listen to myself? No, I kept walking. Before I knew it everyone around me knew what color my shoes were, and at some point my head was in-between my legs. It’s a good thing my skirt was dirty that day or they would have also been able to read the pink writing on my orange underwear; ..I’ll keep that to myself! Just when things couldn’t have gotten any worse and I finished collecting myself while brushing off the embarrassment, I realized that my Blackberry was no longer in my pocket which carried my schedule for the next flight I had to work. Frustrated as hell and needing that glass of Merlot more than ever; (screw the tea!) I looked up and there he was… Standing with this mischievous grin and bashful eyes holding my Blackberry….. I couldn’t even remember what had happen to me in the last 5 minutes. “Are you okay?” he asked. All I could think about was if my bathroom was clean and if there were eggs in the fridge. … No, no.. lets handle this one differently. I’m not that kind of girl, remember….
After getting out of my head I replied; “Ya, yes ah... Thank you um”- I could feel myself fighting with gravity, I’m not sure if he weakened me at the knees or if I was still feeling the effects of hitting the ground the first time. He rescued me and said “Simon, Simon Grainger.” Trying to keep it together and feeling his grip on my body I said “I believe that’s my Blackberry you’re holding.” We must have talked the whole night sitting in the “Arrivals” area. It was the best welcoming I’d ever had! Eventually Simon led me to my car that was parked in the car park. All I could think about was how he kisses. He did leave me with a kiss on the hand and a wave goodbye; which made me want to kiss him even more! His manners were a real turn on! All I could think of was why, why didn’t I give him my number. It was impossible to erase the smile on my face. Another one lost I thought. As I sat there I shook it off and reached into my purse for some lip gloss, when I noticed that my Blackberry was still on. As I went to shut it off I saw the new entry… Somehow without my acknowledgment, Simon had programmed his phone number into my Blackberry. My heart began to race and I giggled the whole way home. When I arrived to my apartment the first thing I wanted to do was to call Vicky and tell her, I’ve met the man I’m going to marry. Instead I stood there with the phone in my hand thinking…. The timing isn’t right. I’ll wait; wait for that moment when her life seems to be going in a direction that she hadn't planned…
